Itinerary:

Day 1

Your tour guide will hold a sign with your name at the Beijing International Airport pick-up area. After pick-up, it takes about an hour to drive from the airport to the Mutianyu Great Wall.

This part of the Great Wall is most welcomed by travelers for its picturesque scenery, fewer tourists, and beautifully-restored architecture. In order to save you time, we use the round-way cable car to transfer you to the Great Wall (or the ski lift up and toboggan down) so that you don’t have to waste your time climbing for more than 800 steps. Arriving at the Great Wall you’ll have about 2 hours hiking on the wall. The hike is flexible without rushing.

After the hike, our guide will bring you to a very nice local restaurant to enjoy a fresh and delicious Chinese lunch or dinner.

After the meal, you will be dropped off at your Beijing hotel.

Day 2
In the morning, your guide will be waiting for you in your hotel lobby at 8:30 am.

The Temple of Heaven

where the Emperors prayed for peace and harvest, is located in the southern part of Beijing and has been one of the holiest places in the country for more than five centuries. It was used as a complex of sacrificial buildings for the Ming and Qing emperors. You will have the opportunity to see how local people exercise in the morning.

You’ll visit the famous Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world. Here, you can take photos in front of Chairman Mao’s portrait hanging on the red wall of the Heavenly Peace Gate. Your tour guide will introduce the history of Tiananmen Square and provide some interesting stories about it.

Later you’ll go through the middle gate of Tiananmen Square where you’ll see a huge red gate that is the Forbidden City also the highlights of today. The Forbidden City was the Chinese majestic imperial palace from the mid of the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. The Forbidden City is situated in the midst of Beijing. It is the palace of the Emperor for nearly five hundred years and the ceremony and policy-making heart of Chinese authorities.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, you will visit Summer Palace in this afternoon.
The palace is about 12 kilometers northwest of the city center and is equally as famous as the Forbidden City. The Summer Palace is called “siheyuan” in Chinese. It is the best preserved and largest imperial garden in China and one of Beijing’s premier attractions. It is also possible to cruise on the lake, which takes 10 minutes by ferry boat (optional).

FAQS

Is there enough time to visit the Wall if my flight arrivals after 2 pm?
I calculated the time; if your flights arrive at Beijing airport after 1 PM, it is better to schedule a visit to Huanghuacheng Great Wall, which has not been rebuilt and does not close at night.

Is lunch ok for vegetarians?
We chose a lovely local restaurant with excellent Chinese food, offering plenty of vegetarian options.

My flight arrives in Beijing very early. What is the earliest the driver and guide can pick us up?
Mutianyu Great Wall opens at 8 AM, so arriving too early to wait outside isn’t advisable. A good pickup time is around 6:30 AM. This way, you’ll be among the first to reach the wall and can enjoy it without crowds. Additionally, we can stop for breakfast on the way at a local Chinese restaurant where you can experience authentic local cuisine.

What is the tipping or gratuities policy?
Tipping our guides is always appreciated, but it’s never mandatory. You should consider giving a tip if you feel that your guide provided outstanding service and you want to express your gratitude for a job well done. Typically, people tip between 50 and 100 RMB per person, per day.

Does this tour go to any shops?
We don’t go to tourist shops, factories, etc., and waste your precious time.
